Demographia has ranked Vancouver as the most unaffordable city of 325 around the world.
The average price for a single-family detached home is now $1million. And those are the fixer-uppers. I’m not even kidding. And our wages haven’t budged in over a decade. (Personally, I’ve received one small raise in 7 years, and each year my paycheque goes down. I am making less today than I was in 2009. A fairly significant amount less, too.)
Vancouver city councillor Geoff Meggs said this about a new Cambie Corridor development plan:
"We had a lot of submissions from young professionals and couples who are earning decent money — no way are they going to be able to buy in Vancouver under current prices, and that is a conundrum for the city, right across town, and one that we haven’t been able to resolve on the Cambie corridor,” he said.
ok I’m cutting this since most of you won’t care but I need to vent.
